Number auction lots by rule.

Set a prefix and a start number for a platform, a category, or one sale. Select coins and assign the numbers in one step. A number that went out in an export does not change.

Rules apply to your platform sales and your Flow auctions.

The Lot numbers page in CoinManagerPro with five rules: a rule for the December Signature sale that starts at 2001, a Morgan dollars category rule that starts at MD-001, a Gold rule that starts at G-0001, a HiBid rule that starts at 1001, and a rule for all other sales that starts at 1.

What lot numbers do

A sale of 1,800 lots gets its numbers in the order you set, with no repeats and no gaps to fix by hand.

Prefix and format

A rule has a prefix of up to 4 letters or digits, a separator, a start number, and zero padding. MD-001 and G-0001 are two examples.

Rules by platform, category, or sale

Make a rule for all sales, for one platform such as HiBid, for a category such as Morgan dollars, or for one sale.

The most specific rule applies

A sale rule applies first, then a category rule, then a platform rule, then the rule for all sales. Each target has one rule.

Assign in one step

Select coins on the Coins page and choose Assign lot numbers. Coins not in the sale become lots. Use the matching rule for each coin, or one rule for all.

Exported numbers stay fixed

After a lot goes out in an export, its number does not change. The platform already has that number.

Letters for late additions

A coin added after the export can take the next number, or a letter after a lot, such as 12A.

Renumber lots not exported

Renumber the lots of a sale that were never exported, in their order, by your rules. Exported lots keep their numbers.

No duplicates

Two people can assign numbers in the same sale at the same time. Each number goes to one lot only.

How lot numbering works

01

Add your rules

On the Lot numbers page, click Add rule. Name it, choose what it covers, and set the format.

02

Select the coins

On the Coins page, select the coins for the sale and choose Assign lot numbers.

03

Choose the sale

Pick an open platform sale. Keep the rule that matches each coin, or pick one rule. Click Assign lot numbers.

04

Export

Export the lots to the platform. Their numbers are now fixed. Lots added later fit around them.

Questions about lot numbers

What happens without a rule?

A new lot gets the next whole number after the highest one in the sale.

Can one sale use different prefixes?

Yes. With category rules, Morgan dollars can start at MD-001 and gold at G-0001 in the same sale. Each prefix counts on its own.

Can I change a lot number after export?

CoinManagerPro does not renumber an exported lot, because the platform has that number. To place a coin between exported lots, it takes a letter after a lot, such as 12A.

Do the rules work for Flow auctions?

Yes. Coins you add to a Flow auction take their lot numbers from the same rules.

Who can change the rules?

Members with the Edit coins permission can add, change, and delete rules and assign lot numbers.
